Shopping for gifts and having them wrapped in beautiful paper – Christmas shoppers in Munich’s Pasing Arcaden were able to make wishes come true for seriously ill children on all four pre-Christmas weekends during December as helpers at the Make-A-Wish® charity station wrapped gifts free of charge but with a request for thank-you donations to help put smiles on the faces of children battling serious illness.

All donations are going to the German Make-A-Wish® Foundation, an aid organisation that has set itself the task of fulfilling the top non-health-related wishes of seriously ill children. The Christmas event in Munich was organised in partnership with Disney, making it even more magical. This is the third year Disney has supported the charity over the festive period, and is doing so at URW shopping centres for the first time this year.

Exclusive wrapping paper featuring Disney characters

‘Family is the greatest gift’ is the slogan adorning the lovingly decorated shop window of a vacant retail unit on the first floor of the Pasing Arcaden. Thanks to this central location and its eye-catching Christmas decorations, the initiative succeeded in attracting the attention of a great many visitors. Door and floor stickers throughout the centre drew attention to the campaign and helped make it a resounding success.

Among other things, the stand stood out thanks to the exclusive wrapping paper featuring popular and well-known figures from many different Disney, Marvel and Star Wars films such as Mickey Mouse, Bambi and even Yoda and Spiderman. The volunteers also acknowledged the initiative by donning Disney outfits, but whether their heads were adorned with reindeer antlers or with Mickey Mouse ears, every face had a smile on it!

Disney doubling every donation

The campaign in the Pasing Arcaden is all about fulfilling children’s wishes, and the icing on this particular cake is that Disney has decided to match each donation euro-for-euro from its own funds, making it even easier for the charity to delight its young beneficiaries.

Apart from Pasing, Make-A-Wish® has also been running Christmas promotions this year in Vienna at Westfield Shopping City Süd and at Westfield Donau Zentrum where Christmas shoppers have similarly been able to have their gifts wrapped and make a small donation to help make a child’s wish come true.
