From our desks to the Northern Heath – tree planting campaign launched with Treeapp
As promised, we’ve begun planting! Our tree planting campaign with Treeapp has officially started. The Gang’s Anna and Simone packed their wellies, hopped into the car and swapped their keyboards for spades. They quickly rolled up their sleeves, and the first trees were planted in Buchholz, a town just south of Hamburg, in the Northern Heath. For our two budding foresters, planting trees was much more fun than they expected it to be, even in winter. Despite cold fingers and muddy ground, the warm feeling that transpired was simply brilliant. With kind assistance, the two of them planted a total of almost 250 trees.
The first seedlings were planted in the company of forestry experts who take care of selection, care and maintenance, using deciduous trees and shrubs such as hazel, elder and blackthorn which are native to this part of the world. Instead of monoculture, the result is a multi-layered forest providing a habitat for birds, mammals and insects and helping connect the forest areas.
Let’s rewind: a few months back, we announced our tree project which will see us plant a tree for every campaign we staged in our Westfield venues in 2024. 340 are planned. Together with Treeapp, a leading reforestation organisation, we’re helping create a real forest for tomorrow in the Northern Heath – diverse, native and climate-resistant. This is also us making a statement that sustainability is more than a buzzword for the Gang.
And that’s exactly what we’re about. For us, sustainability is not a nice-to-have, but part of effective brand management. We bring brands together with people – and we’re now also doing so with real, measurable impact in the natural world. The project is not far from Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, in fact you could say it’s right on our doorstep. Local impact that you can see, experience and even visit.
