Hungry shoppers get a taste of Hungary

Keyfacts
  • Fresh langos from the food truck
  • Fairground classic becomes a flea market highlight
  • More takeaway offerings planned

Since 16 January, Sunday visitors to the popular mega flea market at Austria’s largest shopping mall have been able to look forward to a quick snack – or even an early evening meal – at an exclusive food truck which is delighting shoppers with genuine Hungarian langos and other tasty culinary classics from Eastern Europe, all freshly prepared on site.

Little wonder, then, that the hungry market-goers at Vienna’s Westfield Shopping City Süd have quickly acquired a taste for these delicious bread patties filled with sour cream, ham and cheese, which are perfect as a small-but-substantial snack during a short shopping break. Accordingly, in no time at all, this highly original fast-food van has become the ‘place to be’ for street food connoisseurs.

A must-have brand – and culinary delights into the bargain

On the central promotion area right at the entrance to the high-footcount mall, it’s not just the looks of the white trailer that catch the attention of mall and market-goers – the aroma of freshly baked bread wafts seductively across the entire area, inviting many a visitor to round off their market shopping experience in style.

Every weekend, the varied stalls complement the exclusive offering of the stores that line Westfield Shopping City Süd. The shopping centre is known for its market hall flair. Residents and tourists alike are drawn to the southern edge of the Austrian capital by the easy atmosphere and balanced mix of local vendors and international brands. Naturally, a stylish bite to eat is just what people are looking for! And what better way to complement the near-inexhaustible gastronomic variety of the huge food court than with fresh ‘langos to go’?

More takeaway snack campaigns on the way

This traditional fairground snack will await visitors to the shopping mall until 30 April. But for anyone who misses this opportunity, all is not lost because the delicious street food is so well received that URW now plans to keep the provider on site as part of a long-term collaboration. And the good news just keeps on coming, as more food truck events are being planned due to the overwhelming response and a desire to delight even more street food fans.
