Vodafone accelerates Leine-Center Laatzen visitors to Giga Speed

Key facts
  • 10m long slide on an escalator
  • Selfies in wind-tunnel setting
  • Targeted use of stickers throughout the centre

Watch out! Shoppers coming at you at GigaSpeed! With their latest activation in Leine-Center, Vodafone spontaneously transformed an escalator into a bright red XXL slide. Visitors, accelerated to top speed, experienced how data feels in the provider’s lightning-fast fibre-optic network. Possible side effects: A rapid increase in adrenaline levels and highly stimulated facial muscles from laughter.

Huge slide guarantees high-speed thrills

This brand experience will definitely be remembered – both by those responsible and by everyone who sped down the slide. Even the assembly was a challenge: the 10-metre-long slide not only arrived in Laatzen in 7,000 individual pieces, but the bulky tube also had to be manoeuvered through the shopping aisles and onto the escalator. A considerable feat of strength that attracted many amazed looks. But it was totally worth it, as the beaming faces of the first “test sliders” showed.

From mid-September to the start of October 2021, all visitors to at the shopping centre just outside of Hanover had the chance to have fun with this extraordinary advertising medium. With its striking colour and large lettering, it was hard to miss and discovered by many. Floor and door stickers throughout the centre directed people to the promotion area and the associated Vodafone shop in the centre.

Selfie event is a hit with visitors

For visitors, the action was not limited to this extraordinary high-speed experience. The Vodafone team, together with its partner agency sindholm, had another interactive activity up their sleeves: visitors could have a fun selfie taken in a wind-tunnel setting to take home as a souvenir. An action-packed combination that also proved popular with less tech-savvy visitors: Young and old, big and small, and even four-legged friends dared to take the plunge into the red tunnel to have their picture taken.

All this excitement kept the sales experts at the promotion stand busy: In addition to numerous questions that they answered about the fibre-optic tariffs, they also got lots of new contracts signed directly

The good news for those who missed the high-speed thrills: The experience was so well-received that Vodafone already plans to run it in other URW shopping centres too. So let’s get sliding!
